INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE VIOLINISTS

The music and multi-media performing arts organization is currently seeking a violinist for performances beginning immediately.
BASILICA is a music and multi-media performing arts organization based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Since 2005 the group has specialized in presenting concerts, installations, and multi-media events both locally and regionally. At the core of BASILICA’s larger collective of artists is a classically trained, virtuoso chamber ensemble comprised of two amplified violins, two 7-string electric guitars, electric bass, drums, and interactive video projections. The group’s repertoire is largely comprised of works written especially for the ensemble but also includes classic contemporary works such Louis Andriessen’s “Workers Union”, free improvisation, and solo performances of cutting edge new music by ensemble members. BASILICA’s instrumentalists are all graduates of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and are current or former members of the Bang On A Can All-Stars, the goodhands team, the University of Illinois Gamelan Orchestra and X-Ray Roger Jimmy.
Opportunities include participation in world premiere performances of compositions written specifically for BASILICA; local, regional, and international performances at standard and alternative venues and in new music and contemporary performing arts festivals; and recording on internationally-distributed audio and video recordings
